Christian Education
Junior Confirmation
Our Junior Confirmation class meets regularly September through May. This ministry teaches our young people the Lutheran, Christian doctrine, what it means to live a Christian lifestyle, and prepares them for servant-hood within the church body and to be a witness for Christ in the world through:
- Study of the Bible and Luther’s Small Catechism
- Working through a supplementary workbook
- Participation in group activities and discussion
At Hope, we take a little bit different approach which requires some self-guided study through the use of a workbook with bi-monthly meetings. The students may begin as early as the 6th grade providing they show the maturity to make this commitment. Based on their follow through and engagement throughout year one, the students have an opportunity to be confirmed on Reformation Sunday in October of the year following their start in Jr. Confirmation. For this opportunity, the following mandatory criteria must be met:
- Attendance at the Jr. Confirmation Retreat in September or October at Camp Arcadia
- Memorization and understanding of the 10 Commandments, Lord’s Prayer, Apostles Creed and the understanding and meaning of Baptism and Holy Communion in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod
- Selection of a Confirmation verse with Pastor and write a paper on how it applies to your life in Christ
If a student cannot meet the criteria listed above they may still be confirmed the following May. Please feel free to contact us with questions at 810.735.4807.
